Markit, Mark My Words
One quarter of the Halifax rap crew, Fax 4, Mark My Words is Markit’s debut solo release. When Markit approached me about doing the artwork for his album, he wanted to incorporate his illustration of the foreboding character that you see on the cover. After a few attempts of inkblot and brush stroke style designs, I finally hit on the concept of using the character illustration to create a propaganda style poster. He makes me think of Nineteen Eighty-Four for some reason… I went with The Constructivist style of poster design, since as we all know it’s so well suited to this genre. However, I chose to keep my design simpler then the average Constructivist piece.
